Lorene is recreating an old Victorian farm house in Weedsport, room by room. The kitchen is the first order of business, walls have already been rebuilt and painted, trim work is next, and then we strategized on appliance rearrangement to maximize the general flow of the room.
Solution:
The original sink, still luckily on the property, will be once again utilized, and moved from the middle of the room to the back wall to the left of stove. This will open up space for an antique dining table and chairs for large family meals.
The area behind the wood burning stove will be accented with slate tiling, keeping with the house’s natural environment. The slate design will be carried through onto the sink backsplash, and between the counter and cabinet work, which will also be reconfigured flush against the wall. A new window seat will be adorned with cushions and pillows with window treatments above. Then we can focus on art work for the room, which could range from black & white family pictures to vintage metal signs.
