Problem: Lori
had nice pieces of furniture, but the overall
traffic flow was a bit off. Before embarking
into a total re-do of various rooms, we decided
to simply rearrange the furniture that was
already in the living room, and on the porch,
to help ease the project’s transition
from A to B.
Solution: A
common approach in the living room is placing
the couch directly across from the fireplace.
Although this configuration may work, Lori’s
living room was too large, and the love seat
and upholstered chairs worked much better
at opposite ends. Moving a small end table
between the chairs finished that space, and
we moved in two white chairs from the dining
room to further fill in that seating area.
A large plant that was on the table in front
of the window was deported to the porch. Two
antique marble lamps were resurrected from
the basement. All the family photos were gathered
and displayed on a corner table. The look
was much cleaner, yet fuller, and will suffice
until Lori acquires new things.
On the porch, the couch was placed right in
front of the beautiful French doors, blocking
the access. By moving the couch to the outside
wall we actually gained more space, and could
then switch the rug’s orientation, and
the Adirondack chairs. The living room plant
in the corner will be much happier on the
porch. The green table we simply pulled away
from the wall, and removed a lamp, and various
other objects to make it more user-friendly.
We also again pulled all the family photos
together onto one table.
