Auburn Public Theater is an ambitious project- always in progress- due to financial constraints. The raw space was used as a billard prior to APT's occupancy.
Solution:
A huge mural was graciously painted by Peter Maciulewicz resembling a cityscape at night; and another donated mural that was painted at a community fundraiser, "Music for Murals," have succeeded in seriously brightening up the space and adding interest and dimension.
Many residents have donated furniture for the lobby/cafe area and we hung colorful balloon-like lanterns to bring the ceiling height down and curb the use of the flourescent light panels. The gallery was stripped of molding to create flush wall surfaces to hang local art work. The walls were painted gallery white, and professional tract lighting grids were installed.
